Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atria are located at the Holy Spirit Faith Formation Building on the St. Vitus Church Campus where we currently offer CGS for PreK-2nd Graders.
What is CGS? Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a faith formation program that occurs in an atrium - a room with materials that help your child learn about Jesus and the Catholic Faith in a unique, hands-on way that includes quiet reflection, presentations, and play.
History of CGS Catechesis of the Good Shepherd began in Italy in 1954 and has grown into three levels: Level 1 (ages 3-6), Level 2 (ages 9-12), and Level 3 (ages 9-12). Not just anyone can teach CGS - catechists must go through an extensive certification process and log many hours of training and practice before becoming certified. CGS is a growing program here at Holy Spirit Parish, and we currently offer Levels 1 & 2.
Purpose of CGS Children already possess an intimate and innate relationship with God - like a seed that has been planted! Our CGS Program helps that seed of faith to grow and blossom through experiences relating to the life of Jesus, the Parables of the Kingdom of God, the Sacraments, Mass, and the Liturgical Year.
