If you have a reasonable suspicion that a child is being abused, you should make a report of suspected child abuse. There are two categories of reporters: permissive and mandated. EVERYONE is a permissive reporter. Mandated reporters are those adults who come into direct contact with children in the course of their employment, volunteering in a regularly scheduled program or activity, or who accept responsibility for a child. Permissive reporters may report anonymously - mandated reporters may not.
NOTE: Reports of suspected child abuse are to be made immediately. Reports may be made by phone or electronically.
If the child is in imminent danger, call 911.
If the child is not in imminent danger, call ChildLine 24/7 to make an oral report at 1-800-932-0313. Electronic reports can be made via the CWIS Self-Service Portal.
